Denise DeGroff-Coffey

Denise has worked in the construction industry since 1983 gaining experience in both private and public sectors while working in project management, development, construction management, senior corporate management and ownership roles.


Denise is actively involved in the Coffey Building Group’s daily operations with a focus on finance, marketing, lead development and client relationships. 

Tom Coffey
Vice President

Tom began his career as a drywall carpenter in 1979.    His project experience ranges from residential, healthcare, retail, commercial, industrial, K-12 and universities.  He quickly progressed from tradesman to field supervision and project management to senior corporate management and owner. 


Tom oversees Coffey Building Group’s daily construction operations, including lead development, client relationships, estimating, project management, safety policies, and contract negotiation and review.

Ron Mello
Project Executive

Ron is a third generation drywall, lathing, and framing carpenter, he began his career in 1997.  Ron has managed mid-rise, high rise and replacement hospitals as well as numerous tenant improvement projects.  His field experience enables him to communicate effectively with field level staff as well as executive management staff and owners.


Ron is responsible for the project management of Coffey Building Group's framing, drywall and plaster divisions including client relationships, subcontract negotiation, preconstruction design review/assist and project management. 

Matt Herrera
Estimating & Acoustical Manager

Matt began in the construction industry in 1995, his project experience ranges from OSHPD and DSA to commercial, industrial, retail and is LEED Accredited.  In addition to estimating and project management, Matt has a strong sales management and business development background, having held senior management positions in both of these fields. 


Matt uses his vast experience and knowledge to manage all aspects of our Acoustical Division, as well as estimating manager for the drywall division.

Anthony Smith
Senior Estimator

Anthony’s career began in 1990 as a tradesmen performing drywall, taping and rough carpentry.  His practical experience ranged from apprentice, journeyman and field foreman before moving into estimating.   


Anthony’s duties at Coffey Building Group include lead development, estimating and sales for the drywall, metal stud framing and plaster trades, with a special focus on healthcare.

Jim Olson
Preconstruction Manager

Jim has more than 39 years’ experience in both public and private sectors of the construction industry. His project experience ranges from OSHPD and DSA to Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Higher Education, and Retail.

Jim manages CBG’s larger, more complex projects.  He has a focused dedication on construction methods and processes, finding solutions to challenges, relationship management, client satisfaction quality, safety, and leadership.

Eric Liebel
General Superintendent
Sacramento & Central Valley

Eric has more than 30 years’ experience in both public and private sectors of the construction industry. His project experience ranges from OSHPD and DSA to Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Higher Education, and Retail.


Eric is a well-rounded professional with both field and office project management experience. He is a proven Superintendent, managing multiple complex healthcare and commercial projects, while consistently completing work on schedule and within budget




Rick Mello
General Superintendent
Bay Area

Rick has worked in construction for more than 38 years. He has extensive experience in both public and private sectors of the construction industry including Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Higher Education, and Retail. His expertise includes OSHPD, DSA and DIRTT walls.

Rick started his carpenter apprenticeship in 1983.   Rick’s years of field experience and industry knowledge combined with his involvement with the union programs provide CBG with a well-rounded field manager and valued union partner.   

As our Bay Area Superintendent, Rick has built strong relationships with other trades as well as the field staff of the general contractors.

Paden Waldren
General Superintendent
Acoustical Division

Paden has over 20 years of acoustical ceiling experience ranging from the installation of various types of ceiling systems, resource management and scheduling, safety administrator, detailing and design development, supervising and estimating. He has a strong background in many different types of construction particularly OSHPD / healthcare projects.

Paden is responsible for the overall acoustical ceiling field operations.
